Introduction: Drone Inspection Services
RMS are proud to offer a new range of Drone Inspection Services.
Your advisor, Stuart Walker, has worked in the Condition Monitoring and Reliability sector for the last 23 years. During his career he has utilized technology’s such as Vibration analysis, Motion Amplification, Oil Analysis and IR Thermography. Stuart helps organisations move from a time based maintenance strategy to a predictive and proactive one.
Our team of operators are all qualified drone pilots who work and operate under best-practice guidelines. We ensure that inspections are carried out to the rigorous safety standard of the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).
Drone services are available within the UK and Ireland. Pricing is calculated based on travel to the site location and the specialist Drone operator day rate.

What Drone Inspection Services are available?
Drone Inspections
Description:
The Drone Inspection services are available to a wide range of industries and is able to offer high-definition imagery of elevated or hard-to-reach locations.
UAVs equipped with the latest high-resolution camera and video equipment allows us to spot even small defects, corrosion, or other damage to critical equipment. We can also measure the size of any defects, allowing accurate remedial planning to be carried out
Assets/Applications:
Large storage vessels, exhaust structures, wind turbines
Case examples:
Photogrammetry
Description:
Advanced photogrammetry software, combined with precise geo-referencing of all images, can be used to create a ‘mesh’ array of the object being inspected, allowing easy interrogation of data (including through construction of 3-D digital models or ‘x-ray’ visualisations of the site and overlaying inspection results onto a map or schematic of the site).
This is particularly useful when inspecting sites with multiple pieces of similar equipment (e.g. multiple storage vessels or turbines, wind or solar farms), as any defects can be geo-referenced to the precise location on each specific asset, avoiding any potential confusion when revisiting inspection results at a later date.
UAVs can also be employed to capture images of stored materials, large structures or terrain features such as hills or quarries, which can be interrogated using photogrammetry software to measure area and volume of the object. This is useful particularly for clients in the construction and mining industries dealing with large volumes of raw materials which are difficult to accurately quantify by other methods.
Advanced software, combined with precise geo-referencing of all images, can be used to create a 3-D model of the customer’s site, allowing easy interrogation of data
Assets/Applications:
Large storage vessels, exhaust structures, wind turbines, solar farms, construction and mining projects
Case examples:
Thermal Surveys
Description:
The Aerial Thermal Inspection Service is available to a wide range of industries and is able to offer high-definition thermal imagery of elevated or hard-to-reach locations.
An aerial thermal survey can be significantly more efficient than a manual alternative, with UAVs able to image larger equipment much more quickly and efficiently than traditional hand-held thermal cameras
UAVs equipped with the latest FLIR cameras are able to capture high definition imagery, suited to assessing the condition of a wide range of equipment and structures.
Thermal inspections of high voltage equipment can be carried out from a safe working distance while the equipment remains live, reducing risk and cost.
Our ability to automate surveys ensures consistency and accuracy when carrying out repeat readings of the same equipment
Assets/Applications:
Electrical – transformers, pylons and other power distribution equipment
Production Processes – condensers, exhaust chimneys, pipework
Renewables – solar panels
Buildings – heat loss, water leaks, etc.
Case examples:
Thickness Testing (Coming soon)
Confined Space (Coming soon)
Repeat Readings
Monitor plant condition and compare to previous images giving you a timeline of plant condition allowing you to action upon defects as they arise.
Consulting / Training
We always have time to listen to customers’ requirements and help create solutions to meet your specifications.
