Introduction to Easy-Laser® Alignment Solutions
Performing measurements and aligning machines
Alignment is crucial because it ensures that machinery operates efficiently, safely, and with minimal wear and tear. Misalignment can lead to several critical issues, such as increased vibration, premature bearing and seal failure, and higher energy consumption, all of which can significantly affect equipment reliability and productivity. By focusing on precise alignment techniques, RMS helps clients avoid costly breakdowns, extend equipment life, and improve overall operational performance.
RMS emphasises precision alignment as part of its broader commitment to proactive asset care, aligning with our mission to deliver world-class technology and certified training solutions. Our dedication to this aspect of maintenance ensures that clients achieve optimum machine performance, contributing to reduced downtime and enhanced production capacity.
RMS is an Approved Reseller for Easy-Laser®, the world’s leading manufacturer and supplier of laser based measurement and alignment systems.
Shaft Alignment
Incorrectly aligned shafts and the consequences of this are behind more than 50% of all malfunctions in rotating machines. This increases unscheduled downtime and therefore production losses. This, of course, increases overall maintenance costs. In addition, misaligned shafts increase vibrations and friction, which can increase the energy consumption considerably and cause premature bearing and seal damage.

Explanations
E=possible when adding BTA units
V=possible when adding VIB unit XT280
B=possible when adding suitable Bracket
C=possible when adding Digital level unit XT290
L=possible when adding Laser transmitter XT20 or XT22
Note! This is a simplified overview. Always consult your local distributor if upgrading your system, because additional brackets not mentioned here might be needed. Another reason is there can exist brackets that are better suited for the specific measurement application than those included as standard.

Belt Alignment
We have a complete range of professional tools for belt transmission alignment. Choose between “visual” display on targets or digital display. Regardless which one you choose, the result is reduced pulley, belt, bearing and seal wear. Vibration levels are also reduced. Increased efficiency also means lower energy costs. For these reasons, a belt alignment system normally pays for itself within a few months, regardless of which model you choose.
XT190
Wireless and digital tool for alignment of sheaves/pulleys
When aligning with the Easy-Laser® XT190 BTA you reduce the wear on sheaves/pulleys, belts, bearings and seals, and you also get lower noise and vibration levels. The accuracy of the digital readout means that you can align within prescribed tolerances and rely on the result. Especially transmissions with two or more belts, or wide belts, are highly affected by misalignment, causing large differences in belt tensions and also increased wear and tear on edges.

How to perform shaft alignment in 5 steps
Start with pre-alignment checks to ensure all components are in proper condition. Then, perform a rough alignment and adjust any rough soft foot issues. Next, carry out the initial laser alignment to check the machine’s position. After that, conduct a final soft foot check to confirm no further adjustments are needed. Finally, complete the process with the final alignment and document all measurements for future reference.
The XT190 is a wireless, digital tool for alignment of belt drives. with the Easy-Laser® XT190 you reduce the wear on sheaves and pulleys, belts, bearings, and seals, and you also reduce vibration. Easy-Laser® uses the pulley’s side surface as a reference during alignment. This gives greater accuracy, as the contact surface for the tool is larger than if the tool was mounted against the radial surface. The XT190 can be used for all types of sheaves/pulleys, such as v-belt, timing belt, flat belt and chain drives.
