The New Iris CM™
Official Press Release, 8th October
The Iris CM™ will expand the use of their revolutionary Iris platform technology powered by Motion Amplification™ to new applications focused on solving the industries toughest problems, diagnosing and fixing the things that go bump in the night.
“We see this as the next step in revolutionizing the way we monitor equipment and machinery. We started by solving the plants’ chronic problems with the Iris M™, expanded to high-speed applications with the Iris MX™, and the next step was naturally to move into the continuous monitoring space to assess and solve the problems that can’t be predicted.” – Jeff Hay, CEO
The Iris CM™ is a continuous monitoring camera solution that allows users to monitor an asset with three different cameras over an extended period of time. In Machine Condition Monitoring, solving the root cause is critical to avoid downtime and expensive repairs. The Iris CM™ enables users to visualize what is happening with their equipment live, set triggers to record events that happen when they aren’t around, extract data in the past from the continuous recording loop, and analyze the data to solve the root cause for both acute and chronic problems. Events such as startups and shutdowns can be captured without having to be at the machine or coordinate with operations. And when it does go bump in the night, setting off an alarm, there will be no need to go to the asset to see what happened. The Iris CM™ can also be moved from one asset to another, making it a critical and cost-effective tool.
“Iris CM™ was designed as a crash cart system. When you go to the hospital for a chronic or acute symptom, they run a series of tests to determine what is wrong. The same thing happens for industrial machinery. The Iris CM™ is the tool to quickly and easily give you insight into the machine when you don’t know when or where to start.” – Bob Wilson, President
Cameras are the sensor of the future, and RDI Technologies is paving the way in the Industrial Market with innovative solutions that make Predictive Maintenance more accessible, easier to understand, and quicker. With over 400 unique customers from industries like Oil and Gas, Energy, Automotive, Pulp and Paper, Power, and Chemicals, RDI has seen rapid growth over the last 3 years and was named #33 on the Inc. 500 Fastest Growing companies list in 2019. The Iris CM™ is the 3rd product by RDI Technologies and is expected to contribute a significant amount to the continued growth of RDI, and the use of cameras as the industrial sensor of the future.
Introduction to Motion Amplification
RDI’s patented Motion Amplification technology measures deflection, displacement, movement and vibration not visible to the human eye. We utilize video camera technology in conjunction with our software and processing algorithms to extract meaningful data. This technology turns every pixel in the camera’s view into a sensor capable of measuring vibration or motion with high levels of accuracy.
The results lend themselves to a visualization of the movement. We can measure and quantify any structural assets that a camera can see. Motion Amplification™ is a proprietary video processing algorithm that detects subtle movement then converts that movement to a level visible to the naked eye which enhances the understanding of the components and interrelationships creating the motion.
Iris CM™ Video (coming soon)
Iris CM™ enables a dramatic visualization of the movement. Motion Amplification™ is a proprietary video processing technique that detects subtle displacement and then converts that movement to a level visible with the naked eye.
Iris CM™ enhances the understanding of the components and interrelationships creating the movement and provides a communication tool for technical and non-technical resources.
Iris CM™ measures and quantifies mechanical or structural assets that a camera can see with the same accuracy as a contacting displacement sensor
Iris CM™ allows you to filter your data and visualize movement at specific frequencies to find the real source of a problem and position your team to fix it.
Displacement and Frequency Measurement for the Iris CM™
This software module allows you to draw regions of interest and return a time waveform and spectrum in both the horizontal and vertical directions from those locations. Also included are new features in the acquisition software that assist in making measurements designed for displacement.
Frequency Based Filtering for the Iris CM™
The Iris CM™, allows users to isolate individual frequencies in RDI’s Motion Amplification™ software. Combinations of filters can be applied to isolate multiple frequencies. Filtering is performed graphically by the user through a color-coded spectrum. The spectrum represents the displacement for a region of interest in the video data. Simply drag the cursor representing a filter’s cutoff frequency on the spectrum to apply the filters to any frequency.
Motion Explorer for the Iris CM™
This application allows you to manage all of your Motion Amplification™ data from one place. You will now be able to preview your recordings before opening them, organize your data in a hierarchical structure, and associated files such as PDFs and MP4s with your recordings.
Motion Studio for the Iris CM™ System
The new Motion Studio Update gives you the ability to create more powerful videos with RDI’s Motion Amplification™ software. Add spectra and waveforms to your videos, show multiple views from a single screen, and edit your videos straight from video editor screen. Motion Studio gives you all the tools for your reports.
